My Story
I started using Scentsy when my sister in law had her launch party. I ordered a nightlight warmer and two bars of wax. Money was an issue, so I couldn't afford to buy anything more. When my order came in and I got it plugged in and started using it, I could immediately tell that I had come across the BEST home fragrance products, ever! I have dogs, and even with candles and air fresheners, you could still smell dogs in my house. At best, they masked the smell. When I plugged in my small warmer, and put in only one cube of wax, the results were almost immediate. I thought to myself, " If one warmer and of cube can work that well, imagine if I had a warmer in every room!?"
Before I joined Scentsy, I was literally struggling to survive. Sometimes I would only have $40-$50 a week to feed our family of 5-6 (depending on if my bonus daughter is here). I was robbing Peter to pay Paul, and putting off bills until the last minute. My kids weren't able to be involved in sports, or any extracurricular activities, for that matter. I couldn't afford groceries, much less new shoes every three months for different sports. I had gone to college, got my degree, and then when I started job searching, I realized that I wouldn't have anymore time with my kids than I did while I was in school. It was disheartening, to say the least. My heart yearned to be available for my kids, and to be able to provide them a better life. I was stuck in an endless rut of guilt. My two sons, from my first marriage, have zero contact or support from their father. My oldest was being bullied to the point of talking about suicide, and my youngest was in trouble at school and home, daily. Things were in a downward spiral, and it seemed completely out of my control. Any mom worth her salt will tell you that when you can't control your circumstances, or your kids, you feel pretty worthless.
My SIL asked me to join, at her launch party. She saw past the products, and to the opportunity of the business, immediately. I didn't, at the time, but I REALLY loved the idea of getting my products for free and 1/2 price. However, I didn't have the money to join, and honestly, the thought of spending $99 on this, and it being a waste, was sickening. I couldn't sacrifice that much money without knowing it was a for sure thing.
Over the next year, I watched my SIL and her sponsor, who we went to high school with, do amazing things in their businesses. They were making extra money, earning trips, and went to VEGAS for Scentsy Family Reunion! The more I watched, the more I thought about joining. My SIL consistently asked me if I was interested in joining, and talked with me about how it would b the perfect fit for me. Finally, in February 2015, I used money from my income tax, and took the plunge!
Initially, I had some challenges because I took every 'NO' as a personal rejection. It got in my head, and had me discouraged. I was able to overcome my challenges because we have an AMAZING team page, where the atmosphere is so positive and encouraging, that if you post about your struggles and challenges, people you have never met will comment with ideas or advice. Also, my sponsor cheered me on, kept up with where I was on hitting goals, and really kept me excited. Since I joined Scentsy, I have made more than my join cost back every single month. I have consistently been on sales leaderboards, and was 6th in sales for the year of 2017, out of over 380 people!!! I no longer have to choose between bills and groceries. My kids are involved in any and everything they want to be. I don't have to ask my parents for help buying winter jackets. I've improved my credit by paying off debt. I bought the NICEST vehicle I've ever owned. We've been able to do much needed work on our house (still a work in progress). Our financial situation isn't perfect, but it's 100% better than it was before.
The experiences I've had since joining are amazing. have been able to travel to Nashville, Tennessee and Kansas City, Missouri to attend Scentsy Family Reunion. Scentsy sent us to the Grand Ole Opry, for FREE and to a Kansas City Royals baseball game, for FREE. This July I'm taking the whole family to Anaheim, California for a week for Scentsy Family Reunion, and I've about earned a week long Mediterranean Cruise for June!
My business has had many positive effects on my family, but I can say that the biggest is that my babies know I'm going to be wherever they need me to be, whenever they need me to be there. I don't have to ask a boss, I don't have to miss out on hours/money, and I can almost always work my Scentsy business by phone or tablet, no matter where we are. So, while I watch my sons train for football, I can be also providing an income for my family. The possibilities are endless, and I'm so thankful that I joined, and so ready to continue growing.
